In 2013 I was lucky enough to be able to go to my favorite city, Nashville, for the most fun weekend of the year, CMA Fest. I’m a fan of the non-mainstream artists so my friend, Terri, and I only went to town for the daytime festivities- that’s where all the fun happens.
On our way up to Nashville we decided to stop in Chattanooga Friday night for the Riverbend Festival to see Florida Georgia Line perform. Once we got there we stood in the rain and waited through two openers until finally Florida Georgia Line took the stage (and thankfully the rain went away.) One thing is for sure- FGL knows how to throw a party. I think I heard the radio station say that was the biggest crowd they’ve ever had for the small stage- it was packed out.
Saturday afternoon we finally hit the Nashville streets and let me tell you I just love that town. Nashville is filled with such an amazing atmosphere and CMA Fest is just one big party and there’s something to do on every corner. Terri and I started out the afternoon by walking around downtown and the waterfront checking out the various artists playing. On our way to eat lunch at Rippy’s we looked up and saw the Duck Dynasty cast on one of the rooftops (you never know what you’ll see at CMA Fest.) At lunch boy did we have an experience there was a “mini cowboy” singing as I like to call him. He was so short and he even walked up to our table to serenade us. We were too busy laughing to catch any of that part on camera 🙂 As we were eating our lunch Terri was scrolling through twitter and she saw that one of our favorite artists, Chase Rice, was about to do a meet and greet right down the road. We hurried and finished eating and made our way over to his booth. That was a great, random experience 🙂 After that we had to pretty much run down to the Hard Rock Stage because Cole Swindell was already singing and he was one of the main reasons we had wanted to go downtown on Saturday. He did AMAZING! After that we decided to go to one of my family’s all time favorite restaurants, Margaritaville, and while there we got to see Parmalee soundcheck. We ended up having the best luck at running into random, fun acts all day 🙂
On Sunday’s agenda we only had one thing to do and that was to attend Scotty McCreery’s 2nd annual fan club party and it was a blast! We had lunch from Scotty’s fave restaurant, Bojangles, we got to see an acoustic performance, behind the scene videos from Scotty’s tour, and finally we got to do a meet and greet with Scotty. It was a great day of fellowship with Scotty, his family, and fellow fans 🙂
If you ever get the chance to go to CMA Fest I recommend you go. It is a blast.
Even if you don’t get to go to Nashville during CMA Fest just go to Nashville. I love going and soaking up the culture. There is so much history in that town. Also, fun is guaranteed to come from walking the streets downtown 🙂
